From June 15 to June 24, 2026, the two of us, representing Greece, traveled to the village of Zwardoń in Poland to participate in a youth exchange organized by "We Add Wings" on the topic of the Theatre of the Oppressed. We attended the project with the support of the Greek organization Youth Center of Epirus.
The project brought together young people from all over Europe with the aim of raising awareness about the everyday challenges people face, challenges that are often difficult to fully understand when we observe them only from the outside.
Through the Theatre of the Oppressed, we learned in practice how to put ourselves in other people's shoes and avoid judging others too quickly. Instead, we were encouraged to approach situations with empathy and understanding.
The theatre workshops, along with the other activities included in the program, helped us experience these values firsthand. The group bonded very quickly, as art creates a space where people feel freer, more comfortable, and more connected with one another.
The location chosen to host the project was also a very interesting choice. Zwardoń, the village where we stayed, is surrounded by nature and has only a few houses, a supermarket, and a gas station. As a result, we had the opportunity to disconnect from our daily routines and the stress of city life for a while, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature. This peaceful environment helped us stay calm, focused, and fully engaged in the purpose of the project.
This project was co-funded the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union.
