Refugee Week Greece 2023

During Refugee Week Greece 2023, a vibrant cultural festival celebrating the contribution, creativity, and authenticity of individuals who have experienced forced migration took place. Aligned with the global Refugee Week movement and World Refugee Day on June 20th, the festival spanned from June 19th to 25th, 2023, marking a significant event aimed at raising awareness and fostering solidarity with refugees. The theme for the festival was "compassion". Together, we aimed to create a shared understanding of compassion to ensure it was extended widely to all.

The Youth Center of Epirus, in collaboration with the organizations ICSD and INTERSOS HELLAS, orchestrated a diverse array of activities centered around the theme of art as a powerful tool for advocacy and consciousness-raising. Through collaborative dynamics and interactive workshops, participants engaged in meaningful dialogues and creative expression, transcending cultural barriers and nurturing a sense of empathy and understanding.

From captivating art exhibitions to soul-stirring musical performances, the festival provided a platform for individuals from all walks of life to come together and celebrate the rich tapestry of human experience. Attendees immersed themselves in thought-provoking discussions, cultural exchanges, and collaborative art projects, fostering a spirit of unity and compassion within the community.

Moreover, the festival served as an educational opportunity, shedding light on the challenges faced by refugees worldwide and highlighting the resilience and strength of displaced populations. Through immersive experiences and storytelling sessions, attendees gained deeper insights into the journeys and aspirations of refugees, fostering empathy and solidarity.
