Euro ECO 2 Seminar in Hondarribia ,Spain

In October 2025, participants from across Europe gathered in Hondarribia, Spain, for an Erasmus+ seminar on nature conservation and environmental protection. Through presentations, workshops, and intercultural exchange, they explored key sustainability challenges and shared innovative ideas for a greener future.

In October, we had the opportunity to take part in an Erasmus+ program held in Hondarribia, Spain, focusing on nature conservation and environmental protection. The exchange was seminar-based, bringing together participants from various European countries to share ideas and best practices on sustainability. Representing the Greek team, we were two participants, and we independently chose to prepare presentations on eco-tourism and climate refugees, two themes that we found particularly relevant to today’s environmental challenges.

Our presentation on eco-tourism explored how sustainable travel practices can help preserve natural ecosystems while simultaneously supporting local economies and promoting cultural awareness. We discussed real-life examples of destinations that have successfully balanced tourism with conservation, emphasising the importance of responsible visitor behaviour and community involvement. The second topic, climate refugees, focused on the growing global issue of people forced to leave their homes due to the effects of climate change — such as rising sea levels, desertification, and extreme weather events. We highlighted how this humanitarian crisis is interconnected with environmental, social, and political factors, encouraging dialogue on the need for international cooperation and climate justice.

Throughout the week, we attended numerous workshops and presentations from other participants, gaining valuable insights into diverse environmental problems and innovative solutions across different cultural contexts. Beyond the educational component, the program allowed us to connect deeply with people from various backgrounds, share perspectives, and explore the natural beauty and traditions of the Basque region. Overall, this Erasmus experience was both intellectually stimulating and personally enriching, inspiring us to continue promoting environmental awareness and sustainability in our own communities.
