Training course: Communities @ Work for Green Citizenship, Italy

In 2025, participants from different countries came together in Italy for the Erasmus+ Training Course “Communities @ Work for Green Citizenship.” Through non-formal learning, intercultural exchange, and collaborative activities, they explored sustainability, active citizenship, and environmental responsibility. Here are some reflections from participants on their experience.

Maria : The experiences I gained from the “communities work for green citizenship” program were some of the best of my life. Every day was unique, full of creative activities through which we were sensitised with non-formal education. The cooperation with both the trainers and all the people who participated in the program was excellent. Everyone was friendly, making my adjustment very easy, and the relationships I built there were very valuable!

Barbara : In this Erasmus+ program, we explored the concept of responsible green citizenship through targeted activities. We learned to work together and help each other. We laughed, danced (a lot), played, and created. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I will never forget!

Panagiota : Our training course in Italy was a unique experience! We met some truly fantastic people, with whom we bonded from the very first days, thanks in part to the various activities organised by the Italian coordinators. Every day was a new adventure, with nature walks, campfires, dancing, music, songs in every language, intercultural nights, and even our afternoon coffees brought us together, made us a group of people of different nationalities, but with so much in common. We learned a lot about the environment, energy, nature, and the vital importance of our contribution to its protection through this informal education. Lifelong friendships were formed, unique experiences were had, and memories were made that we will talk about for years to come.

Ioanna : My participation in the Training Course “Communities @ Work for Green Citizenship” in Capranica, Italy, was one of the best experiences of my life. I returned to Greece with a deep sense of fulfilment. During the program, I gained knowledge about environmental responsibility, active participation, and sustainable practices through non-formal education methods such as the forum theatre workshop, which particularly impressed me. I realised how important team building is and how much more effective group activities can be compared to individual ones. I stepped out of my comfort zone and connected with people who eventually became friends. One of the most beautiful moments was the intercultural nights where we shared traditions, dances, and food and created memories that I will remember forever.
